ANSWER:
Cold sores are caused by a virus. It’s important to prevent the spread of the virus to the surrounding cells.

Personally, I would suggest using something containing 10% Docosanol. (Read the label on the product)
It may take 5 – 7 days for the cold sore to completely heal if you apply the ointment 3 or 4 times (or more as needed) throughout the day. (after showering, after eating, after brushing your teeth, before bed, etc…)

Remember to apply the ointment with a q-tip to avoid cross-contamination of the ointment tube.
It’s not recommended to use your finger to apply the ointment as you risk spreading the virus through contact with your finger. As well, you may have dirt & bacteria on your fingers which could prolong the healing time of the cold sore.

So today I saw the symptoms of….duh duh duh….a cold sore.

I’ve been using Campho-Phenique. (a cold sore treatment with drying action, it has a pain reliever and antiseptic gel) And i’m hoping that will work.

I know ice also helps.

But I have my 8th grade graduation ceremony in 4 days!!!!!!!!!!

What are some ways to get rid of it, or some makeup tricks to keep people from seeing it??

Basically, cold-sores are there.. and they aren’t going to go until they’re finished doing.. whatever they do.
There are some ways you can help reduce coldsores though by yourself, try taking multi-vitamins to boost your immune system.
Dabbing tea tree oil, a natural antiseptic can help, if you can get your hands on it – or even any other antiseptic cream may help.
If it still isn’t gone by your graduation then you may want to put a light concealer over it. But don’t cover it thickly with obvious make-up, then it will be even easier to spot it. Just a slight dab of concealer can do the trick.
Have fun at your graduation and just forget about the little bugger on your lip- most people don’t notice them anyway.
